Product Names should:
- Follow the product naming formulae detailed in HomeDepot.ca’s Data Standards (available in English and French)
- The formulae have been created with search keyword efficacy in mind (SEO and site search have been accounted for)
- Never include the Brand Name (this is generated by a separate field)
- Offer as much detail as possible
- Be at least 15 characters in length, including spaces
- Not exceed 100 characters in English (130 characters in French) including spaces
- Indicate clearly if synthetic or imitation materials are used. E.g. “Faux Marble”. See this page for more information.
Best Practice:
- Mobile devices will only show about 45-90 characters. It is recommend that product names be max 100 characters in length (130 in French). For context, more than 60% of The Home Depot Canada's site traffic is mobile
